Banana Bars Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 Cups flour
- 1-1/2 Teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon salt
- 1/4 Cup vegetable shortening
- 1 Cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 or 3 bananas, mashed
- 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 Cup walnuts, chopped
- Topping
- 1/3 Cup powdered sugar
Directions:
- Oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13x9" baking pan. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, cream vegetable shortening and brown sugar. Beat in the bananas and vanilla extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Fold in the nuts. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 min., until firm to the touch. Combine the powdered sugar and cinnamon for the topping, and sprinkle over the warm cookies. Cut into bars and cool in pan on wire rack.
