Strawberry Custard Cake Recipe

Directions:

  1. Mix together sugar, cornstarch and milk in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over a medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring, until mixture comes to boil.
  3. Boil for 1 minute; then remove from heat.
  4. Add ½ cup of this mixture to the beaten egg yolk; then return the mixture to saucepan, beating thoroughly.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add the vanilla and set aside to cool.
  7. Place the slices of pound cake along the bottom of a large dish.
  8. Spread slices with the raspberry jam.
  9. Slice the strawberries and place over jam.
  10. Drizzle orange juice over the strawberries.
  11. Spread custard over top; then sprinkle with almonds.
  12. Cover and refrigerate.
