Sugared Doughnuts Recipe

Directions:

  1. # Put flour, salt and 2 oz. ( 50g ) caster sugar in a mixing bowl
  2. # Rub in margarine then mix with egg and milk
  3. # Roll out dough on a floured surface to a quarter inch thickness
  4. # Cut out rounds using a three and a half inch plain round cutter
  5. # Cut holes in center using a one and a half inch plain round cutter
  6. # Re-roll trimmings and cut out more
  7. # Fry doughnuts in hot oil or lard for 5 minutes, until well risen and golden brown
  8. # Drain on kitchen paper
  9. # Mix cinnamon and remaining sugar together then toss doughnuts in sugar
  10. # Pile doughnuts up neatly on a plate or arrange on a stick of rock
